Found guilty, 26 February 1916, of being absent without leave, 11.30 am to 9.30 pm, 23 February 1916: awarded 7 days' Field Punishment No 2.

Attached to 13th Camel Company, Moascar, 5 August 1916, and taken on strength, Imperial Camel Corps; taken on strength, 13th Company, 11 August 1916.

Admitted to 3rd Australian General Hospital, Abbassia, 29 August 1916 (debility); discharged to duty, 12 September 1916.

Field General Court Martial held at Baharia Oasis, Egypt, 28 November 1916: pleaded not guilty to a charge of when on active service 'disobeying a lawful command given by his Superior Office in that he at Gebel Mendiaha (Baharia Oasis), 16th November 1916, when ordered personally by No. 214 C.S.M. Ross W. to clean camel lines, refused to do so and did not do so.' Found guilty: awarded 60 days' Field Punishment No 2.

Admitted to 4th Desert Mounted Brigade Field Ambulance, Shusha, 16 December 1916 (malaria); discharged to unit for duty, 26 December 1916.

Admitted to 4th Desert Mounted Brigade Field Ambulance, 26 January 1917 (malaria); transferred to 14th Australian General Hospital, Abbassia, 31 January 1917; discharged to Convalescent Depot, 7 March 1917.

Found guilty, 9 March 1917, of when on active service breaking out of barracks about 2 pm and remaining absent until apprehended by the M.P. about 3 pm, 9-3-17; total absence 1 hour: awarded forfeiture of 3 days' pay.
