Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry during an attack. While leading his platoon the advance was checked by an enemy machine gun, which put a Lewis gun section out of action. He immediately picked up the gun, and firing from the hip, accounted for all the crew of the machine gun. He showed fine courage and promptitude.'
