Meritorious Service Medal

'Has been Regimental C.Q.M.Sgt. for the 18th Battalion since February 1917 and has throughout been absolutely reliable and trustworthy and at the same time most energetic. The past 5 months of active warfare have involved on several occasions, most difficult circumstances for the Q.M.'s Staff. During the move from KEMMEL to the AUBIGNY SYSTEM early in April 1918 the sorting of rations and manipulation of stores and supplies had to be carried out under most rough and ready conditions. Subsequent rapid moves and particularly the moves resulting from the operation of 8th August 1918 required the exercise of great initiative and energy. It is largely owing to his good work and thorough supervision that, during all this period, no hitch has taken place in the delivery of rations and supplies, nor any defect occurred in this respect. On occasions when the Q.M. has been away and no assistance has been available, he has ably discharged the duties.'
