War service: Egypt, Palestine Embarked Adelaide on HT 'Bakara', 4 November 1916; disembarked Suez, 4 December 1916 and marched into Isolation Camp, Moascar; marched into 3rd Light Horse Training Regiment, Moascar, 14 December 1916, and taken on strength. Transferred to 10th Light Horse Regiment, 16 January 1917, and taken on strength, 18 January 1917, Masaid. Sick to hospital, Shellal, 27 June 1917, and admitted to 3rd Light Horse Field Ambulance, Sueilma (paratitis); transferred to 53rd Welsh Casualty Clearing Station, 28 June 1917, Rafa (tonsilitis); to No 2 Australian Stationary Hospital, El Arish, 28 June 1917; to 24th Stationary Hospital, 30 June 1917; discharged, 4 July 1917, and marched into unit, Abbassa, 6 July 1917. Admitted to 5th MB Field Ambulance, Marakeb, 11 July 1917; discharged to duty, 18 July 1917. Admitted to Rest Camp, Port Said, 10 August 1917; returned to unit, 20 August 1917. Killed in action, near Jaminaineh, 8 November 1918. Buried 1.5 miles southwest of Jaminaineh. Death report states, 'Buried by Chaplain Captain J.S. McDonnell in a Wadi running North and South on a bearing of 112 degrees from well (Not on map), the well is 1 and a half miles South-West of Jaminaineh. Reference map Palestine, Sheet 20 Square 3.
