Military Medal 'At CLERY-sur-SOMME on 31st August 1918, for gallantry and devotion to duty during action. he together with a comrade fought his way up a communication trench, using a Boche light machine gun and grenades against the enemy, who put up a very stubborn resistance, and their efforts were largely responsible for the overthrow of the enemy opposition at this particular locality.'
