Admitted to New Zealand Auxiliary Hospital, Ismailia, 15 March 1916 (deformed foot); transferred to No 1 Australian General Hospital, Ismailia, and then to No 3 Australian General Hospital, Abbassia, 15 March 1916; to No 1 Auxiliary Hospital, Heliopolis, 29 March 1916.

Commenced return to Australia from Suez on board 'Itonus', 9 June 1916; discharged, Brisbane, 11 August 1916 (medically unfit).
