Military Medal 'During the attack on MONT ST. QUENTIN, near PERONNE, on 31st August 1918, while acting as a runner, this man displayed wonderful bravery and untiring energy in the execution of his duty. His work took him into every kind of dangerous place, getting messages to the flanks, which were in an exposed position, and the whole time being under the most incessant machine gun and artillery fire. This man's efforts were splendid and his willingness and endurance throughout the whole of the operations called forth the highest praise from all the officers of his company.'
