War service: Western Front Embarked Fremantle, 18 July 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 9 September 1916; marched in to 4th Training Bn, Rollestone, 10 September 1916. Proceeded overseas to France, 21 December 1916; taken on strength, 16th Bn, in the field, 2 January 1917. Wounded in action, 4 August 1917 (gun shot wound, left wrist), and admitted to 4th Australian Field Ambulance, and transferred to Casualty Clearing Station; to 7th Canadian General Hospital, Etaples, 5 August 1917; to England, 8 August 1917, and admitted to Edmonton Military Hospital, 9 August 1917; transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 22 August 1917; discharged to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 27 August 1917.
