Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry on the 10th day of August 1918 at LIHONS. During the attack, after his objective had been reached, this soldier crept forward alone, and despite heavy Machine Gun fire, located a German Machine Gun which was inflicting heavy casualties among his men. After a brief fight he succeeded in entering the post, silencing the gun, and bringing back three prisoners to his post. His daring could not be too highly praised.'
