Military Medal 'Near CLERY-sur-SOMME on the 30th August 1918, Private CONNORS displayed wonderful qualities of courage and devotion to duty. During an enemy counter-attack, he kept his gun in action continuously under heavy artillery fire and machine gun fire from both flanks, and though badly wounded continued to work his gun until too weak to stand. He inflicted severe casualties on the enemy greatly assisting his comrades in their movement to a forward position, and set a splendid example of pluck and endurance.'
