War service: Western Front Embarked Adelaide on HMAT 'Seang Bee', 10 February 1917. Found guilty at sea by Field General Court Martial, 21 February 1917, of committing a civil offence by unlawfully wounding No 3034 Private Patrick Donohue by striking him with an open knife in the arm, 15 February 1917: awarded 30 days' detention; forfeited total of 30 days' pay. Admitted to Ship's hospital, 19 March 1917; discharged from hospital, 20 March 1917; disembarked Devonport, 2 May 1917. Admitted to Fargo Hospital, 10 May 1917; discharged to 10th Training Bn, 11 May 1917. Admitted to hospital, 11 June 1917; marched into No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, from 10th Training Bn, 2 October 1917. Embarked on HT 'Berrima' and commenced return to Australia, 31 October 1918; disembarked Melbourne for onward travel to 6th Military District, December 1918.
