Military Medal 'On 4th July, 1918, in the operation against VAIRE WOOD, east of CORBIE, Corporal CONWAY was in charge of a mopping up party. He performed this duty most thoroughly and when all the ground in rear had been cleared he rejoined his Company which was digging in at the first objective. Some enemy posts in front were causing a great deal of annoyance and some casualties, so CONWAY led his party forward, regardless of severe hostile sniping activity, and successfully dealt with, capturing or putting out of action each post. After, he led his patrols into No Man's Land, thoroughly reconnoitred his Company front and was successful in obtaining information of the utmost value. Corporal CONWAY's gallant work throughout the operation is worthy of the highest commendation.'
