Distinguished Conduct Medal

'For conspicious gallantry and devotion to duty when in charge of a convoy of trains conveying ammunition. When the railway was heavily shelled he made six separate efforts to get through, and after assisting the break down gang to repair the track, succeeded in delivering his ammunition and withdrew his train. On another occasion, when in charge of a train, finding the line broken by shell fire, he collected the train crew and effected temporary repairs, thus enabling guns that were exposed to be conveyed away by train before daylight.'
