Military Medal 'On the 4th October, 1917, East of YPRES, the Advanced Dressing Station was being heavily shelled and a great number of wounded were being brought to the Station. Corporal COOMBES worked continuously under fire directing the unloading and loading of the wounded. His cheerfulness and courageous bearing was a splendid example to the bearers working under him. His work during the whole of the operations was particularly noticeable for the endurance, courage and cheerfulness shown.'
