Military Medal 'On night 4th/5th February, 1917, during the attack on enemy trenches east of GUEUDECOURT, the Company in which Private CORBY is a Company stretcher bearer suffered proportionately very heavy casualties. Carrying a stretcher by himself CORBY was into the captured trench with the first wave of the assault. He immediately set to work with a few helpers to minister to the needs of his wounded comrades. Under incessant shell fire his work was carried out with the utmost coolness and gallantry. Then calling for volunteers to assist him, he made nine trips to the R.A.P. with the most severe cases, each time traversing the area o the enemy barrage and open spaces swept by hostile machine gun fire. Though his helpers often became exhausted, CORBY continued with his bearing, working at high pressure for three days without rest.'
