Disembarked Alexandria from 'Ionian', 26 December 1915 (general Gallipoli evacuation); returned to 11th Light Horse Regiment and taken on strength, Heliopolis, 22 February 1916; marched into Australian General Base Depot, Tel-el-Kebir, 26 February 1916; moved out to Serapeum, 17 May 1916.

Found guilty in Alexandria, 4 July 1916, of (1) refusing to obey an order, (2) striking a non-commissioned officer of the military, (3) violently resisting escort, 20 June 1916: awarded 3 months' Field Punishment No 1 (1 month remitted, 5 July 1916); discharged from 'Gabbari Prison', Alexandria, 28 July 1916. Taken on strength, 3rd Training Regiment, Moascar, 22 August 1916. Detached to Imperial Camel Corps and taken on strength, Abbassia, 9 September 1916. Detached to 13th Company, 20 October 1918, and taken on strength, Windless Hill, 23 October 1918; taken on strength, 3rd Anzac Bn, 11 November 1916.

Admitted to 3rd Field Ambulance, Ismalia, 3 May 1916; discharged to duty, Sinai Peninsula, 13 May 1916. Transferred to 4th Anzac Battalion and taken on strength, 16 March 1917; returned to 3rd Anzac Battalion and taken on strength, 20 August 1917. Transferred to 4th Anzac Battalion and taken on strength, 30 December 1917.
