Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty near Angre on 6 November, 1918. With his patrol he discovered a large gap in the line, and, realizing the great danger, he placed his small patrol in a strong point; and, galloping back, he collected parties of infantry and placed them in the gap, thus making the position safe, being the whole time subject to heavy machine gun fire.'
