Admitted to 15th Australian Field Ambulance, 11 March 1916, nd transferred to 2nd Australian General Hospital (venereal disease); to 2nd Australian Stationary Hospital, Tel-el-Kebir, 11 March 1916; to 1st Australian Dermatological Hospital, Abbassia, 12 March 1916; discharged to duty, 3 April 1916; marched into Overseas Base, Giza, and posted to 8th Training Bn, Zeitoun, 4 April 1916.

Admitted to 2nd Australian General Hospital, Tel-el-Kebir, 14 May 1916; transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Heliopolis, 15 May 1916 (myocarditis); discharged to duty, 7 May 1918; rejoined unit, Ferry Post, 25 May 1916.

Embarked Alexandria on HMAT 'Tunisian' and proceeded to join the British Expeditionary Force, 16 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, 23 June 1916.

Admitted to 26th General Hospital, 7 October 1916 (rheumatism). Embarked Calais on HS 'Dieppe' and proceeded to England, 14 October 1916; taken on strength of No 1 Command Depot, Perham Downs, 17 October 1916; granted furlough, 18 October 1916. Marched into No 1 Command Depot from furlough, 3 November 1916.

Found guilty at Perham Downs, 3 November 1916, of being absent without leave, 3.00 am, 1 November, to 3.45 pm, 2 November 1916: awarded 7 days' confinement; forfeited total of 2 days' pay; reported from furlough, 6 November 1916 (Class C); marched into No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 25 November 1916. Discharged from Australian Imperial Force as being permanently unfit for war service at home or abroad, London, 26 February 1917.
