Found guilty at Hurdcott, 22 January 1917, of conduct to the prejudice of good order and military discipline: admonished as punishment.

Admitted to Hospital, Fovant, 23 January 1917 (bronchitis); discharged to 8th Training Bn, Hurdcott, 16 February 1917. Proceeded to France through Folkestone, 20 March 1917; marched into 5th Australian Divisional Base Depot, Etaples, 21 March 1917; marched out to unit, 23 March 1917; taken on strength of 32nd Bn, 25 March 1917.

Admitted to 15th Australian Field Ambulance, 2 April 1917, and transferred to 9th Casualty Clearing Station (haemorrhoids); to Ambulance Train '31', 3 April 1917; to No. 1 Convalescent Depot, Boulogne, 4 April 1917; discharged to 5th Australian Divisional Base Depot, Etaples, 7 April 1917. Proceeded overseas to England, 27 April 1917; marched into No 2 Comand Depot, Weymouth, 28 April 1917; marched into Drafting Depot, Perham Downs, 29 May 1917.

Proceeded to France through Southampton, 20 June 1917; marched into 5th Australian Divisional Base Depot, Havre, 21 June 1917; marched out to unit, 11 July 1917; rejoined unit in field, 13 July 1917.

Found guilty, 15 September 1917, of being absent from parade, 9.00 am, to 1.00 pm, 14 September and 7.30 am, to 11.30 am, 15 September 1917: awarded 2 days' Field Punishment No 2.

Admitted to 3rd Australian Field Ambulance, 30 September 1917, and transferred to 2nd Canadian Casualty Clearing Station (shrapnel wound, jaw, leg, arm, foot); to Ambulance Train '26', 1 October 1917; to 1st Australian General Hospital, Rouen, 2 October 1917; to 6th General Hospital, Rouen, 13 October 1917. Proceeded to England on HS 'St. George', 31 October 1917; admitted to Reading War Hospital, 2 November 1917 (gun shot wound, severe); transferred to 1st Southern General Hospital, Brimingham, 31 December 1917; to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 16 January 1917; to Queen's Hospital, Sidcup, 21 March 1918; granted furlough, 2 April 1918; returned to Queen's Hospital, 2 June 1918; granted furlough, 7 June 1918; returned to Queen's Hospital, 8 July 1918. Admitted to 1st Australian Dermatological Hospital, Bulford, 16 July 1918; discharged to Queen's Hospital, Sidcup, 24 July 1918; granted furlough, 21 December 1918; returned to Queen's Hospital, 4 January 1919; granted furlough, 15 January 1919; returned to Queen's Hospital, 15 February 1919.
