War service: Egypt, Western Front Embarked Alexandria, 6 June 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 16 June 1916. Qualified at the first Rifle Course, School of Musketry, Tidworth, 9 August 1916. Proceeded overseas to France, 23 September 1916; reverted to Private, 24 September 1916; taken on strength, 45th Bn, in the field, 3 October 1916. Admitted to 45th Casualty Clearing Station, 16 February 1917 (jaundice); transferred to 1st General Hospital, 19 February 1917; to 8th Stationary Hospital, 23 February 1917 (trench feet); to England, 24 February 1917, and admitted same day to Reading War Hospital (jaundice and catarrh); discharged on furlough, 7 May 1917, to report to No 1 Command Depot, Perham Downs, 22 May 1917. Transferred to Australian Army Medical Corps Details, 6 April 1918. Marched in to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 15 July 1918.
