Wounded in action, 6 August 1915, and admitted to No 1 Casualty Clearing Station; admitted to 2nd Auxiliary Convalescent Depot, Heliopolis, 11 August 1915 (fractured forearm). Admitted to No 3 Australian General Hospital, Heliopolis, 11 September 1915 (tonsillitis); transferred to No 1 Australian General Hospital, Helouan, 29 September 1915, and transferred same day to No 3 Auxiliary Hospital; discharged to Base Details, 1 October 1915. admitted to No 2 Auxiliary Hospital, Heliopolis, 11 October 1915 (ingrowing toenail); transferred to Helouan Convalescent Depot, 2 November 1915; discharged to active service, 12 November 1915; rejoined unit, 28 January 1916.

Found guilty, 1 July 1918, of at Cheltenham, being absent without leave from 2400 25.6.18 till 2025 26.6.18: forfeited total of 3 days' pay.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Argyllshire', 9 December 1918; disembarked Melbourne, 1 February 1919; discharged, Melbourne, 26 March 1919.
