Proceeded to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, Gallipoli, 29 August 1915; sick to Alexandria, 18 December 1915 (diarrhoea); admitted to 1st Auxiliary Hospital, Cairo, 23 December 1915; transferred to Overseas Base, Ghezireh, 28 December 1915.

Found guilty, 28 January 1916, of being absent from parade when warned for duty: awarded 168 hours' detention.

Proceeded to join unit, 5 March 1916.

Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 19 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 26 March 1916.

Missing in action, France, 24 August 1916; reported with unit, 27 August 1916.

Admitted to 6th Australian Field Ambulance, 19 September 1917 (diptheria); transferred to 17th Casualty Clearing Station, 19 September 1917; rejoined unit, 28 September 1917.

Proceeded to Paris on furlough, 16 January 1918; returned from leave, 21 January 1918.

Wounded in action, 22 July 1918; admitted to 6th Australian Field Ambulance, 22 July 1918 (shrapnel wound, right buttock); transferred to 5th Casualty Clearing Station, 23 July 1918; died of wounds, 24 July 1918.
