Embarked Alexandria to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, Gallipoli, 9 May 1915. With detachment, 2nd Light Horse Regiment, Mudros, 14 November 1915. sick to hospital, Mudros, 14 November 1915; returned to duty, Mudros, 22 November 1915 (no further details recorded). Disembarked Alexandria, 26-27 December 1915 (general Gallipoli evacuation).

Appointed Lance Corporal, Heliopolis, 29 December 1915. {To the Front, 14 January 1916. Promoted Corporal, 10 May 1916. Sick to hospital, Kantara, 28 September 1916; transferred to 1st Light Horse Field Ambulance, 1 October 1916 (influenza); to 26th Casualty Clearing Station, 7 October 1916; to 31st General Hospital, Port Said, 7 October 1916; to 2nd Australian Stationary Hospital, 13 October 1916; discharged to Rest Camp, 20 October 1916; discharged to 1st Light Horse Training Regiment, 2 November 1916; returned to duty with 2nd Light Horse Regiment, 13 November 1916.
