Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On the night of 19th October, 1917, near ZONNEBEKE (east of YPRES), this N.C.O. was in command of a column of ammunition wagons which came under heavy shell fire. By his quickness of decision and gallantry he led his column to a place of safety and delivered the ammunition to the Battery. He set a splendid example to his men and his action minimised casualties to both personnel and material.'
