Tried by District Court Martial, 28 July 1917. Found Guilty of Absent without Leave, 1 December 1916-4 May 1917. Sentenced to nine months' detention.

Unexpired portion of sentence (188 days) remitted as from 21 October 1917.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Runic', 20 December 1917; discharged (medically unfit), Perth, 27 February 1918.
