Military Medal

'On 4th October 1917, East of YPRES, he displayed conspicuous ability and leadership in action. His Platoon Commander was killed at the commencement of the action and the Platoon became disorganised. CRAFTER at once took charge, reorganised the Platoon and led it throughout the action. His courage and cheerfulness were a fine example to all men of his Platoon and he exhibited powers of leadership of a very high order.'
