Military Medal 'For gallantry and devotion to duty at DERNANCOURT South West of ALBERT on 28th March, 1918. He greatly assisted to repel an enemy attack and after the N.C.O. in charge of the gun was killed by a bullet, he took charge and set an excellent example to the remainder. From an exposed position he fired 7,500 rounds from his gun during the attack and subsequently on small parties of the enemy including cavalry. He showed great coolness and an utter disregard to danger.'
