Wounded in action, Gallipoli, 18 November 1915 (gun shot wound, left shoulder). Disembarked Alexandria from HS 'Somali', 23 November 1915, and admitted to 1st Australian General Hospital, Heliopolis; listed as dangerously ill, 25 November 1915.

Commenced return to Australia from Suez on board HT 'Ulysses', 3 January 1916; discharged (medically unfit), 5 February 1917.
