'At WESTHOEK RIDGE on 1st October, 1917, for great gallantry and devotion to duty. Private CREBERT went out and repaired the lines and maintained communications despite the heavy barrage. He showed great coolness and absolute disregard for his personal safety. His bravery was inspiring to all his comrades.'
