Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when in command of his platoons. He organized the consolidation and captured an advanced post and a field gun with great dash, afterwards holding the captured post under heavy shell fire and keeping his men well in hand by his cheerfulness and optimism.'
