Proceeded to France through Southampton, 16 July 1917; marched into 1st Australian Divisional Base Depot, Havre, 17 July 1917; moved out to unit, 25 July 1917; joined 11th Bn in field, 4 August 1917; attached to 3rd Brigade 1st Divisional Signal Company, 18 August 1917; proceeded to the United Kingdom on leave, 23 February 1918; rejoined unit from leave, 16 March 1918.

Found guilty, 1 April 1918, of being absent without leave, 7.30 am, 9 March, to 7.30 am, 13 March 1918: awarded 28 days' Field Punishment No. 2; forfeited total of 39 days' pay. Proceeded to the United Kingdom on leave, 18 January 1919; rejoined unit from detachment, 10 March 1919. Proceeded to United Kingdom, 24 April 1919; disembarked Southampton, 25 April 1919, and marched into No. 1 Group, Deverill.

Commenced return to Australia on HT 'Somali', 1 June 1919; disembarked 5th Military District, 8 July 1919. Discharged Perth, 15 August 1919.
