Military Medal 'On the 30th September 1917, the 114th Battery, 14th A.F.A. Brigade was in action East of WESTHOEK when it came under a particularly heavy bombardment of enemy 5.9" No. 708 Sergeant J. CULLEN, who was Acting Battery Sergeant Major at the time, by his personal courage and fearless behaviour assisted in keeping the Battery in action in spite of the many casualties which were occurring in the Battery. This N.C.O. afterwards personally supervised the evacuation of all the wounded and his cheerful and fearless behaviour inspired all ranks. His courage and devotion to duty are worthy of special recognition.'
