Disembarked Alexandria, 7 January 1916 (general Gallipoli evacuation). Transferred to and taken on strength of 1st Pioneer Bn, Serapeum, 12 March 1916. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 26 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, 2 April 1916. On leave, 31 December 1916; rejoined Bn, 10 January 1917. Admitted to 4th Australian Field Ambulance, 30 January 1917 (gonorrhoea); discharged to Base Details, 16 February 1917; total period of treatment for venereal disease: 34 days.
