'This N.C.O. who is one of the original men, has all through shown spendid courage, coolness and devotion to duty. He is absolutely fearless and is always conspicuous during a bombardment by his cheerfulness which has a great effect on the men. He accompanies every wiring from his Company and has done particularly good work. No matter how trying the situation this N.C.O. always keeps his men in good spirits, generally starting a rousing song or chorus which is taken up by the whole company.'
