'Near BORRE on the 29th April, 1918, when the Battery position was heavily shelled and the Battery Commander badly wounded, the personnel were ordered to withdraw to a flank, Sergeant DACEY who was in charge of the telephone exchange, remained at his post and kept up communication. By his heroic attention to duty he kept two Batteries in communication with Brigade Headquarters and he was able to ask Battalion Headquarters for medical assistance and ambulance to be sent at once for wounded.
