War service: Western Front Embarked Sydney, 2 May 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 23 June 1916. Marched out to 9th Training Bn, Lark Hill, 227 July 1916. Admitted to Military Hospital, Parkhouse, 22 October 1916 (venereal disease); discharged from hospital, 23 November 1916; total period of treatment for venereal disease: 33 days. Found guilty, 12 December 1916, of whilst on Escort Duty allowing a prisoner to escape from custody: awarded 14 days' detention. Proceeded overseas to France, 31 December 1916; rejoined 34th Bn, in the field, 5 January 1917. Admitted to 10th Field Ambulance, 2 February 1917 (sore feet); rejoined unit, 8 February 1917.
