Proceeded to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force (Gallipoli Campaign), 4 April 1915.

Transferred to Base for dental work, 25 July 1915; rejoined unit at Gallipoli, 6 November 1915.

Disembarked Alexandria, 22 December 1915 (general Gallipoli evacuation).

Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 23 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 29 March 1916.

Admitted to Lahore Stationary Hospital, 30 March 1916 (colitis); listed as 'seriously ill: appendicitis), 1 April 1916; transferred to 2nd General Hospital, and then to No 2 British General Hospital, 7 June 1916; to England, 10 June 1916, and admitted to 1st Southern General Hospital, Birmingham, 11 June 1916 (influenza); discharged on furlough, 13 July 1916, to report to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 21 July 1916.

Commenced return to Australia from Portland, England, on board HT 'Marathon' for discharge (appendicitis), 8 August 1916; discharged (medically unfit), Tasmania, 2 January 1917.
