Military Medal 'During the attack on the BEAUREVOIR Line, east of PERONNE, on 3rd October, 1918, this N.C.O. rushed forward and bombed an enemy post containing two machine guns. He threw tow bombs right into the post killing several of the enemy, and making it compartively easy for the platoon to capture the post. He was severely wounded while doing this.'

Again on 4th January, 1918, when his Post was blown out by Minenwerfer which killed the Officer, Sergeant and four men and wounded the other Sergeant and one man, he took charge of the situation, reorganised the post and then tendered the wounded under continued Minenwerfer fire. His continued coolness and courage throughout set a fine example to the other men of the post who were badly shaken and helped them to maintain the position.'
