Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry in action on all occasions, and consistent devotion to duty. He has been in charge of battery signallers since November 1917. In operations in the Robecq area at Strazeele, and in recent Somme operations from 8 August onwards, his courage and invaluable services have been outstanding. He has twice been buried by shell fires, and refused to leave his post on both occasions. His example to those with him has been excellent.'
