Military Medal 'East of HOOGE, from 20th to 21st September, 1917, this man acted as linesman attached to Brigade forward party and showed conspicuous bravery in mending lines from Forward Station back to Cable Head under continuous heavy shell fire. Though wounded he succeeded in restoring communication betwen these stations at a critical time.'
