'During operations near NOREUIL on 11th April, 1917. he guided 13 G.S. limbered wagons of ammunition to within 1000 yards of front line and when he came under heavy fire broke the convoy into artillery formation and on reaching the ammunition dump handed over to the Officer in Charge. The wagons came back safely.'
