Sick to hospital, 8 February 1917 (scabies); transferred to ambulance train, 3 March 1917; admitted to 1st Australian General Hospital, 4 March 1917 (rheumatism); transferred to England, 15 March 1917, and admitted to 1st Southern General Hospital, 16 March 1917. Transferred to 1st Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, 8 May 1917; granted furlough from 21 May to 5 June 1917, to report to Training Depot, Wareham. Proceeded overseas to France, 20 August 1917; rejoined Bn, 1 September 1917. Wounded in action, 20 September 1917 (shell wound, throat); transferred to England, 25 September 1917, and admitted to 1st Birmingham War Hospital.
