Wounded in action, 17 July 1917; admitted to No 11 Field Ambulance, 17 July 1917, and transferred to No 2 Australian Casualty Clearing Station the same day (gunshot wound, right arm and side; severe); to No 12 Ambulance Train, 19 July 1917; to No 1 Australian General Hospital, Abbeville, 19 July 1917; to England, 24 July 1917; to No 2 Southern General Hospital, Birmingham, 25 July 1917; discharged to furlough, 10 August 1917; marched into No 1 Command Depot, Perham Downs, 24 August 1917.

Marched into Overseas Training Bde, Longbridge Deverill, 20 October 1917.

Proceeded overseas to France, 10 November 1917; marched into 3rd Australian Divisional Base Depot, Rouelles, 11 November 1917.

Proceeded to unit, 15 Novmeber 1917; rejoined 40th Bn, 22 November 1917.

Admitted to No 10 Australian Field Ambulance, 19 October 1918, and transferred to No 3 Australian General Hospital, Abbeville, the same day (influenza).
