Military Medal 'At HERLEVILLE, East of AMIENS, on 18th August 1918, shortly after leaving the jumping off tape the N.C.O. in charge of his Lewis Gun Team became a casualty. This man then took the gun and reorganised the team whom he preceded firing from the hip as he advanced. The party was subjected to a heavy concentration of Machine Gun fire and the other members of the crew except two became casualties. With these men Private ADAMS continued to advance until the both became casualties. This man then took up a position and kept firing until all his ammunition was exhausted when he rejoined the nearest post in his vicinity. Throughout he showed great courage and determination.'
