'During the advance on the 18 September, 1918, near Le Verguier, on returning from delivering a despatch He came across a small party which had become detached from the company. He took charge, and led them towards a portion of trench which proved to be still in occupation of the enemy. Bombing vigorously up and down the trench, he established touch with his own company and also with the unit on the flank.'
