Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. At Wadi Augala, on 16 July, 1918, he was in charge of a detachment of fifty camels, which were being shelled by the enemy. With the assistance of two native drivers, he, by making four or five journeys got the remaining camels under cover after four natives and eight camels had become casualties.'
