Distinguished Conduct Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on 8 and 9 August 1918, east of Villers Bretonneux. On the first day, when parties of various battalions lost direction in the fog and wirte, he guided them back to their correct positions, through the enemy barrage. The following day he was of great assistance to his company commander, who was the only officer left unwounded, touring the whole front, getting into touch with flank units and getting valuable information under continuous fire.'

Military Medal

'For gallantry and devotion to duty in the operations near ESTREES, North of ST. QUENTIN, on 3rd October, 1918. He was leading Company Headquarters behind the barrage when the wire over 60 yards thick was met. Seeing that some men were inclined to hesitate, C.S.M. Dickinson dashed forward alone through the wire, under heavy machine gun fire and, inspired by his example the men followed and succeeded in forcing their way through to the objective. He later personally established a post to defend the flank of his Company and by personal direction of the fire of two Lewis guns was able to beat off two strong enemy counter attacks.'
