Military Medal 'During the attack West of BELLENGLISE against the Hindenburg Line on 18th/19th September, 1918, a large party of the enemy worked along the trench in rear of his Company and commenced firing. he immediately appreciated the situation and organised a bombing party to eject them. Skilfully and gallantly leading his party he, after sharp heavy fighting, succeeded in capturing many of the enemy and clearing the trench. His action and quick appreciation of the position undoubtedly saved many lives.'
