War service: Egypt, Western Front Taken on strength, 1st Light Horse Training Regiment, 1 March 1916. Transferred to 5th Division Artillery, 21 April 1916, and taken on strength, Ferry Post, and mustered as Gunner. Posted to No 2 Section, 15 Masy 1916. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 18 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 25 June 1916. On leave to England (10 days), 6 July 1917; leave extended to 20 July 1917; rejoined unit, in the field, 23 July 1917. Appointed Driver, 5 October 1917. On leave to United Kingdom, 15 March 1918; rejoined unit from leave, 4 April 1918. Reverted to Gunner, 17 June 1918. Attached for duty to 5th Division Artillery Headquarters, 21 July 1918; rejoined unit from detachment, 31 October 1918. Transferred to 5th Division Signal Company, and taken on strength as Sapper, 2 November 1918.
