'For gallantry and good work during the operations in the vicinity of Bellicourt from 29th September to 3rd October 1918. He was in temporary command of the company which was attached to the Corps Heavy Artillery, to assist them in moving their guns forward. He personally carried out reconnaisances of forward roads, and, in spite of heavy shell and machine gun fire, brought back information of the batteries which was of great assistance to them.'
